Reclining Sofas, Loveseats and Chairs: the Ultimate Ways to Relax in Your Home

You know what’s better than a sofa, loveseat and chair? A reclining sofa, loveseat and chair! Reclining furniture is the perfect addition to any living room, family room or man cave. It's mostly intended for kicking your feet up and enjoying a movie or TV show. But be warned, my Bob’s reclining sofas, loveseats and chairs are so comfy, you may not be awake for long!

Reclining Furniture FAQs

Reclining furniture sets can include sofas, sectional sofas, loveseats and chairs. The two most popular combinations are a reclining sofa and loveseat or a sofa and reclining chair. Depending on the size of the sofa or loveseat, there can be up to five recliner seats in one set – just think, you could invite the whole family to recline and relax!

Reclining sofas and loveseats can be purchased as standalone items as well, but a furniture set removes the hassle of coordinating multiple items. All it takes is one reclining furniture set and you’ll have a fully furnished living room in no time!

If you’re in the market for reclining furniture, the one thing that’s probably most important to you is comfort! Test out a reclining sofa, loveseat or chair before buying. It may look comfortable, but you need to make sure it feels as snuggly as it looks.

Consider your available floor space before making a purchase, too. Measure the recliner when it’s upright and when it’s in the reclined position. Do you have enough room for a 3 seater recliner sofa? How about a recliner sofa set? Don’t forget you’ll want to leave ample room between your reclining furniture and other items, such as accent chairs and tables, so you don’t disrupt traffic flow.

What type of material do you prefer? Leather is a popular choice. A leather reclining sofa is durable and can usually stand up to claw and bite marks from your beloved pets! Or if you have little ones (‘nough said!) you may want to invest in a fabric recliner sofa that’s stain-resistant.

You’ll also want to choose between manual and power recline. Manual recliners typically have a lever or require body weight to recline, while a power reclining sofa can lean back with the push of a button.

Finally, what special features would you like? Tons of my Bob’s reclining sofas and reclining loveseats include storage, Bluetooth speakers, cupholders and more. Is your phone or laptop constantly running low on battery? Check out my reclining sofas with power outlets and USB ports to ensure your favorite devices are fully charged!

Imagine coming home from a long day at work and all you want to do is relax. Sound familiar? Now imagine the disappointment when you go to lean back in your new leather reclining sofa and it slams into a wall! Eek! Sounds like a nightmare!

Most reclining furniture needs to be at least a small distance away from a wall. Depending on the size of the item, four inches to a foot should be plenty of space.

Keep in mind that a recliner chair can easily be placed at an angle, and recliner sofas and loveseats can float in a living room so you won’t have to worry about walls playing defense against your relaxation time!

The placement of a coffee table can be tricky when paired with a sofa that reclines. Make sure the coffee table is far enough away from the sofa so the footrests don’t bump into it when extended. Usually, you’ll need around 18 inches between the coffee table and sofa.

If you’re not comfortable with that amount of space, there are alternatives to consider. End tables or accent tables can be placed on either side of a sofa and provide a similar function to a coffee table. Some of my Bob’s reclining sofas include a drop-down table on the center seat, which can be equipped with a light, power outlets, cupholders and a flat surface for your remotes, cell phones and magazines. It’s so convenient!

Also keep in mind that some reclining sofas have a middle seat that doesn’t recline. You may have just enough room to place a small coffee table in front of the non-movable seat. There - problem solved!
